Catechumenate (Next Session: Begins September 21st)
The Catechumenate (pronounced
kat-eh-ku’-men-ate) is the process by which adults are prepared for Baptism, Confirmation, and Reception into membership of our parish family. It is an opportunity to experience community, make friends, and learn the basic teachings of the faith as drawn from Scripture and articulated in tradition.

Tuesday
Seniors’ Scripture Study 10:00 AM–11:30 AM
Seniors of our parish meet for Scripture study, fellowship and refreshments weekly. We study either a subject or a book of the Bible. These studies are led by the pastor. Our emphasis is, as with other studies at this parish, on the text in its context. We always have lively discussions!
Date: We meet weekly when the university is in session, with occasional breaks. Please call for confirmation
Gilmann A.A. Group 12:00 PM
University Lutheran is pleased to sponsor five distinct 12 Step groups as part of our ministry of healing and reconciliation. This group is open to both men and women. It features open discussion. Contact: Mike G. 858-837-1753.
Dinner with Spirit 6:00 PM
This group is for town and collegiate communities. We provide a lite and healthy supper with wine, alternative beverage, and dessert. Our gathering takes place from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. We usually choose a book that we discuss chapter by chapter. We end with a brief time of sharing and prayer. We hope that all will experience something very much like friends gathering in a living room to share, grow, and encourage one another.

Spoken Eucharist 7:00 AM to 7:30 AM
This is a contemplative service of Word, Sacrament, and Prayer in the sparse tradition of the Benedictines. (We meet when UCSD is in session—fall through spring.)
S-Anon 11:30 AM
University Lutheran is pleased to sponsor five distinct 12 Step groups as part of our ministry of healing and reconciliation. This group is for men and women who have family or friends who face sexual addictions.
Student Dinner and Discussion 6:00 PM
Students from UCSD and the surrounding universities and other young adults are welcome to this gathering. We meet for dinner from 6:00-7:00 and then move to discussion of a book, video series, Scripture, or article. (We meet when UCSD is in session—fall through spring.)
We are currently reading The Strangest Way: Walking the Christian Path, by Robert Barron, Orbis Books, 2002. (For a copy of the book, inquire with the pastor or purchase online at Amazon.)
Candlelight Evening Prayer 8:00 PM
This brief service (no more than 30 minutes) uses the Holden Village musical setting of Evening Prayer by Marty Haugen. With guitar, incense, voice, Scripture, and intercessory prayer we bring the day to a close. The service takes place during the academic year – fall through spring—when UCSD is in session.

A.A. -- La Jolla Big Book Study 6:30 PM
